Race of the Day - 16:00 Lingfield
The ground is riding heavy at Lingfield today, so this handicap chase over three miles and four furlongs is going to test the stamina to the absolute limits.
Amberjam is chasing a four timer and is the current favourite at around 9/2. This is just his third run since transferring to Oliver Sherwood, and he showed admirable stamina to stay on just enough in the very heavy going at Uttoxeter when winning last time out. The distance appears to be within his capabilities as he ran well over just a furlong shorter at Fontwell on soft going.
When looking at the Instant Expert tab on the 'Place' setting, Krackatoa King comes out really well. The Kayf Tara gelding has four sections of green and one of amber, therefore he looks to have a great chance of making the frame at the very least.
On the 'Win' setting there isn't really any one horse that particularly stands out. A few have the odd section of green and amber, but nothing has more than that. This helps to show what an open race it is, and finding the winner is looking tough.
There have been very few runs here over this distance to draw any kind of conclusion from the respective running styles.
Coolking is a confirmed front runner, and looks certain to be right at the head of affairs early on. Delgany Demon, Amberjam and Arbeo are all usually quite handy as well, therefore there may be quite a reasonable pace given the long distance of the race.
This feels like a really hard race to pick apart and not one that I will be having a bet in. However, if you are going to get involved I would definitely make sure you look towards the real mud larks who stay at least this far.
