The Trainer Jockey Combo Stats report shows what an excellent record Roger Charlton and Kieran Shoemark have over the last year here at Lingfield. They've managed ten winners (27.03%) and 18 places (48.65%) from 37 runners, for level stakes profits of 44.30 and 58.13 respectively, and an Impact Value of 2.73.
They have two runners here today and I am going to be concentrating on Rock Steady, who runs in a good quality two-mile handicap.
Rock Steady had a very consistent all-weather campaign last winter, with four second places and a win. He raced on the turf at Leicester last month which should help with his fitness ahead of another winter on the artificial surfaces.
He steps up to two miles for the first time here today, where he may well have some untapped potential.
Roger Charlton has a useful record here at Lingfield and he does brilliantly with his runners over the longer distances. From his last 104 such runners, he's had 27 winners (25.96%) and 61 places (58.65%) for level stakes profits of 11.59 and 37.38 respectively, and an Impact Value of 2.35.
Kieran Shoemark also has a good record when riding here, as he's 12/82 (14.63%) over the past year for 4.27 points.
The Instant Expert report shows that Rock Steady is extremely well suited to today's conditions, with four sections of green and one of amber. He is seven pounds higher than for his last victory, however, he has managed a close second from today's mark and I am hopeful of him going one better over two miles.
Early leaders and runners in mid-division have the best record here over this distance when looking at the Pace report, both showing a level stakes profit.
Rock Steady is usually ridden in mid-division and it looks likely that it will be Soldier In Action taking them along, as he has comfortably the highest pace score.
