Race of the Day - 14:40 Lingfield Park
The marathon distance of almost two miles at Lingfield is the choice for today's Race of the Day, and it looks quite an open race.
Adam Kirby rides Night Generation, and he has been in very good form of late, winning over a quarter of his races over the past month. He also has an extremely good record here at Lingfield, with 190/927 (20.50%) over the last five years for a level stakes profit of 27.97, which is excellent going.
Shan Dun Na Ngall is the current favourite at around 2/1, and looks reasonably good on the Instant Expert tab, with two sections of green and one of amber. He hasn't raced at the course before, but has had success on artificial surfaces previously, so it is a safe enough assumption that he will take to the underfoot conditions here today. He is four pounds higher than for his last win, which was when he kept on strongly over this distance at Newcastle, therefore he looks to have what it takes to put in a strong performance.
Even though this is a long distance flat race, leaders here have a very useful record, with almost 17% of them going on to take the victory, for a level stakes profit of 93.26.
Night Generation and Le Tissier head the pace scores, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Kirby take Night Generation to the front early on and try and make a break for it when they turn the final bend.
Trainer Statistics is free to all users on a Wednesday, and it shows us what great form Colm Murphy has been in over the last 30 days. He hasn't had a great deal of runners, but has taken three winners and four places from seven runners, for level stakes profits of 57.50 and 61.63 respectively. He runs Shan Dun Na Ngall here today and I think he will take all the beating.
