Race of the Day - 15:30 Lingfield
There are just the five runners in this five furlong handicap on the all weather at Lingfield, but it is a decent looking field and all five are in with a chance.
Just Us Two is at the top of the Speed Ratings, which is particularly relevant with it being over the minimum distance. He is trained by Robert Cowell, who has been in brilliant form recently. Over the past 30 days he's had six winners (54.55%) and ten places (90.91%) for level stakes profits of 12.96 and 18.32. Although he doesn't have a lot of runners, the yard is clearly firing at the moment.
Stepper Point is the short priced favourite, currently around the 13/8 mark, and when looking at the Instant Expert report he has three sections of green and one of amber. After having a difficult time last year he has plummeted down the ratings, and is a full 21 pounds lower than for this last victory. He has been a Group 2 winner in the past, therefore if he can rediscover his form from two years ago, he should be able to justify favouritism.
Monumental Man has one section of green and four of amber, which shows a certain level of consistency in today's race conditions, especially as this is from a large sample of races.
Early leaders here over this distance have an excellent record, with almost 27% of them winning the race, for a level stakes profit of 485.36.
Monumental Man has the highest Pace score, and he is usually very keen to get on with things and looks the most likely early leader here today.
Horses For Courses is the report that is free to all users on a Friday, and here it highlights what a great record Monumental Man has here at Lingfield. He has raced here eight times prior to today, winning four of them (50%) and being placed in six of them (75%) for level stakes profits of 15.25 and 20.30 respectively. If William Carson can get away quickly, then he could prove tough to catch.
