Race of the Day - 15:50 Leicester
I like the look of this handicap at Leicester, it's a one and a half miler for horses rated up to 110 and some good looking handicappers are involved. It's a wide open race too, with the outsider of eight only priced at 16/1.
Monotype looks likely to be the jolly, and he is trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni, both of whom have very good records here at Leicester.
The Shortlist is an excellent report for finding horses with great chances, and it is free to everybody on Tuesdays.
Faithful Mount has a score of 13 on this report (the max is 15) which shows he is really well suited by the race conditions today. At a price of 7/1, he is certainly worth a closer look.
The Instant Expert tab highlights the impressive showing of Faithful Mount compared to his rivals here today. It should be noted however, that he is ten pounds higher than his last victory so will need to continue to improve if he is to get his head in front.
A few other runners have a couple of green sections, but nothing really stands out.
The Heat Map and Draw / Run Style Combinations highlights the importance of being at the front of the race over this course and distance. Although it is from a limited sample size, there is a clear advantage for horses that lead the race, irrespective of where they have been drawn.
Looking at the Pace tab, it looks likely that Noble Gift will be right up there with the pace and he usually gets on with things.
It is interesting to note that although he doesn't have the highest pace score, Faithful Mount has had a change of tactics for his last two races where he has lead from the off and made all to win both times. He looks sure to adopt those tactics again so it will be a case of whether or not he can defy the hike in the weights that he has received for his facile victory at Haydock.
