Race of the Day - 14:30 Ripon
This is a six furlong handicap for three year olds at Ripon, and even though it has just the eight runners, it looks a tricky contest to pick apart.
Kaeso is the current short priced favourite at 11/8, on the back on winning his last two races. They were both over six furlongs, but on good going, and it will be interesting to see how he gets on with softer underfoot conditions, and a further six pounds higher handicap mark.
Daniel Tudhope rides Control Centre, who is another last time out winner, and Tudhope has been among the winners recently, as well as having very good course form. Over the past 30 days he's had 19 winners (21.35%) and 41 places (46.0%) from 89 runners, for level stakes profits of 98.68 and 112.15 respectively.
The Instant Expert report is available to all users for every race on a Thursday, and when put on the 'Place' setting it is Springforth who comes out really well, with a nice full line of green sections. This shows that he is very well suited by today's racing conditions, and he is just the two pounds higher than for his last win, therefore this Richard Fahey trained gelding could have a big part to play in this.
From looking at the Pace report we can see that early leaders here over this distance have a very good record, with 20.43% of them going on to win the race, for a level stakes profit of 189.99.
Seaview and Springforth are clear on the pace scores, with Seaview looking the most likely early leader based on the last four races of each runner. I think Paul Hanaghan will be keen to keep Springforth right up there and if he does, he may be hard to peg back.
John Quinn and Jason Hart have been in nice form together recently, as over the past 30 days they've had five winners (15.63%) and 13 places (40.63%) from 32 runners, for level stakes profits of 11.85 and 12.73 respectively. They team up with one of the outsiders, Trick Of The Lyte, here today.
