Race of the Day - 14:40 Sedgefield
This is quite a useful looking handicap chase over two miles and three furlongs.
Interestingly the majority of the trainers represented in this race have a very good course record, over at least the last year. Sue Smith doesn't have the good course record, however she has a level stakes profit for the past 30 days of 39.00, which shows she has been among the winners.
The Shortlist is a great report if you are short on time, as it highlights any runners that are suited nicely by the racing conditions that day. This report is also free to all users on a Tuesday.
Two horses from the race we are looking at appear on The Shortlist, Asterix and Blakemount. They both have a score of ten, however Asterix has a grey section for distance, and having raced the majority of the time over two miles, he definitely has a question mark over his ability to get the extra yardage here today.
The Instant Expert tab confirms the relatively good showing of Apterix and Blakemount. As can also be seen here, Blakemount is just the three pounds higher than his last win, and he has run well after a break before so his absence of over 200 days isn't too much of a worry.
The Pace tab shows that it is a huge advantage to either be leading the race early on, or at least race prominently. Leaders have a 20.65% strike rate with a level stakes profit of 46.65, with horses that race prominently winning 17.33% for a level stakes profit of 37.62.
Alderbrook Lad is a definite confirmed front runner, with Lord Wishes, Blakemount, Raktiman all likely to be right up there as well. With quite a few horses that are likely to be keen to get on with things, there could be quite a strong early pace, meaning that stamina will be fully tested.
