Race of the Day - 20:30 Chelmsford

This is a 0-70 handicap over a mile on the all weather course at Chelmsford, and with quite a large field it is a wide open race.

Captain Courageous is the current favourite at around 10/3, and this Canford Cliffs gelding has a trainer and jockey who are both in very good form. He has been running consistently without getting his head in front, and there is a slight worry that his handicap mark is high enough to prevent him from doing so again.

Zorba The Greek is ridden by Callum Sheppard, and he has an excellent record here at Chelmsford. Over the last year he's had six winners (20%) and 10 places (33.33%) for level stakes profits of 22.33 and 18.91 respectively. He is also at the top of the Speed Ratings, with a score of 68.

Saleh has easily the best showing in this race, with four sections of green and one of grey, having not run at the course before. He clearly thrives in today's conditions and with Adam Kirby booked for the ride again, looks to have every chance of going close, even with the five pound rise in the weights off the back of his latest victory at Kempton.

The favourite captain Courageous, has a full line of red, further highlighting the doubts about whether he can win.

Early leaders have a very good record here over this distance, with almost 21% of them winning the race, for a level stakes profit of 73.44.

Keystone and Saleh look the most likely to be fighting it out for the lead, and it would be no surprise to see a typical Kirby ride and strike for home from a few furlongs out.
