Thursday at Haydock saw a record Tote Jackpot rollover being won after Starkat, guided by Jamie Spencer, grabbed a victory in the final event the M.E.N. Media Handicap.
Not having been won since July 26 at Yarmouth, the pool had grown to Â£2,308,852 before racing, with wins for Fabiello, Tallahasse, Spinning Spirit, Uphold and Joseph Lister left the total at Â£94.50 going to the sixth and final race in which all ten horses were covered.
Exeter in 1995 saw the prior biggest rollover at Â£1,127,824.07, while Aintree in 2008 had the biggest pot won by an sole punter at Â£510,995.59. The Haydock dividend paid Â£113,054.10 to a Â£1 stake.
