After his victory in the Cox Plate last weekend, the Bart Cummings star charge So You Think has shown he has the right stuff with a victory at a wet and soggy Flemington on Saturday in the Longines Mackinnon Stakes.
With five wins from the same amount of starts, the horse is set to be a punter's favourite for his bid to win the Emirates Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, after a strong performance with jockey Steven Arnold aboard saw him cross the line three lengths clear from his rivals.
Cummings, known as the “Cups Kingâ€, has won “the race that stops a nation'†twelve times in his career as a trainer, but So You Think remains unproven over the distance for the prestigious event.
The trainer currently remains in hospital suffering from a respiratory illness, but Reg Fleming his assistant said,"He's a strong horse, I don't think it will be a problem."
Arnold commented, "I was a little bit concerned about the two miles and probably still am but that was a real positive today. He relaxed so well and was so strong late. I reckon today was a real positive.
"Today I just wanted to wait a bit longer and he actually had a look around at the furlong, he's an awesome horse."
