SOTD Weekly Updates

SotD Update, 22nd to 27th February 2016

No joy at all this week and plenty of head scratching going on. Well backed horses not quite getting home plus a couple of stinkers meant that despite three pacers and a fourth placed runner, we didn't have a single winner this week.

Enough has been said about my current form, so I'm not going to add to the debate other than re-confirm that I'm not doing anything differently, I'm just having a poor run of form which is counteracting some of the overachievements from last year.

    Hi Chris,
Particularly unlucky yesterday with Si Senor, which was only foiled by a great ride from Luke Morris on the pacesetter. He sure is a hard man to beat in a tight finish!
I made a comment to you in the replies after the SotD selection on the 26th Feb which I’ve copied again below. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this when you get a chance in your busy schedule. Thanks and all the best…
“Chris – I notice with all your SotD selections historically, it is either a 1 pt win or occasionally a 0.5 pt each-way. Has anyone suggested that you utilize this points system to a larger extent, gauged by your own personal confidence in each selection? (I.e. On a bad day’s racing with just a few plodders to choose from, you might just recommend a 0.5 pt bet for an interest; whereas on a good day or when a horses stats really stand out in a particular race, you might recommend a 3 pt bet or more?)
My apologies if this idea has been raised before in the geegeez forum or elsewhere, I don’t have as much time to devote to reading all the valuable info on this site as I would like…”

Hi, yes, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I’d stuck my head back behind the parapet! 😀

The simple answer, really, is…No, I’ve not considered it. I’m a little bit old school re: staking and I’m a believer that if you can’t make a profit at level stakes, you lose some credibility.

I honestly expect a good run from all the selections and it’s only very rarely that I’m more confident than usual about one. There are days, however, when finding one is a struggle, but we’re committed to providing a stat-based selection per day.

The recent poor run is even more irritating/frustrating as my Stat Picks Service (which is an offshoot/extension of SotD) is currently 15pts up for February! So I remain confident in the selection process.

Hi chris stat picks send me a link i will soon stop it im sure ur more frustrated then i am with how things are going in the stat of the day area but this is not the first time ive joined a service for it to stop havin winners and its getting a little annoying im like a bad penny as regards si senor imo the horse was given a perfect ride and the horse himself snatched defeat from the jaws of victory cheers post a link for ur other service if u can or ur brave enough im not knockin u in anyway ur better at the game then me i would just like to be rewarded for my blind faith every now and again !

Hi chris No need i found it the grim reaper will soon be on board lol nice one

Thanks for the quick response Chris and fair enough…
I guess all I am looking for is an indication that if on particularly limited racing days, when you personally feel that you are nominating a selection merely because you have to provide a service, that you would indicate as much in your write up? (There has been plenty of those sort of days over the last couple of months with the Winter weather etc…)

    • Chris Worrall says:

      I could try, I suppose.
I don’t really want to start advising reducing/increasing stakes to be honest, as with my current luck I’d be advising winners at 0.5pts and losers at 3pts! 😀

Without banging my Stats Picks drum too loudly 😀 , I do have quite a few No Bet days there.

Keep plugging away – your luck will turn around soon for sure! Thanks for your time…
