Double Dutch, 16th November 2015

A nice way to end the week with back to back winning doubles as both De Vous A Moi and Hi Vic were worthy chase winners on Saturday in difficult conditions at Wetherby and Uttoxeter.

De Vous A Moi came from a long way off the pace to eventually score by six lengths and then we had a 1-2 finish in race 2, as Hi Vic demolished a small field with Loughalder a distant (26L!) runner-up with the third placed horse a further 24 lengths back.

This made for a nice little forecast at a shade over 11/2 and a double at 8.63/1 to round off a decent week for us at DD.

Saturday's results were as follows:

De Vous A Moi : WON at 5/2 (adv 15/8)
Voyage A New York : PU at 5/2 (adv 9/2)
----------------------------------------------------
Hi Vic : WON at 5/4 (adv 7/4)
Loughalder : 2nd at 4/1 (adv 7/2)
The forecast paid £6.58 here.

Results to date:
729 winning selections from 2604 = 28.00%
230 winning bets in 675 days = 34.07%

Stakes: 1349.00pts
Returns: 1449.63pts
P/L : +100.63pts (+7.46% ROI)

REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS

These are Monday's selected races...

Your first 30 days for just £1

1.45 Leicester :

Double Chocolate was pretty impressive when winning last time out at Uttoxeter on his debut for his new yard, ridden by today's jockey a month ago. It was also his first run for 495 days and providing it hasn't taken too much out of this 12 yr old, there's every chance he can defy a 9lb rise in weight to double up today.

He pretty much made all that day and didn't need to be driven too much to land a comfortable four lengths victory and despite this being a step up in class on paper, it doesn't actually look much better a race than the one he won last time and therefore, Double Chocolate has to be considered at 9/4 BOG.

The big danger is Playing The Field, who made a comeback at Worcester 26 days ago after an even longer layoff (516 days!) and although he understandably tired and faded late on to finish fourth, the ability was apparent from a horse who previous two runs had both ended in victory, albeit 17 months earlier.

He should come on for having had a recent run and as a winner of 3 handicap chases from 8 starts, he certainly has the potential to take this one over a trip he has already won at and with the inform Richard Johnson in the saddle, Playing The Field looks quite attractive at 4/1 BOG.

3.05 Plumpton :

At the risk of an accusation of narcissism/nepotism etc, I'm going to put up The Geegeez Geegee here at 9/2 BOG, as conditions look more than suitable for him today. Ideally a strong gallop on soft ground is what he'd want and with at least four in the race who like to force the pace, it should be set up nicely for him here.

Trainer Anthony Honeyball's string is coming into some decent form and he has a good record at this track and today's jockey David Noonan is very well regarded, has won 4 of 14 in the last fortnight (28.6% SR) and is good value for his 3lb claim. Provided the horse isn't too far off the pace in the closing stages, this could well be a deserved return to winning ways for The Geegeez Geegee after some hard luck tales of late.

The one he'll have to beat, though, is likely to be Verano, who interests me on just his second run for Dan Skelton and now returning to hurdling after a pair of third placed finishes over fences. He has already won twice from five Class 4 hurdle rasces on soft ground, so conditions should be ideal for him today, even if the 2m4f trip is slightly longer than his optimum distance.

He did, however, complete over 2m 2.5f on his last run over hurdles in April and shaped that day as though he needed/wanted further and with that in mind, Verano is also shortlisted at odds of up to 7/2 BOG.

4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows

Double Chocolate / Verano @ 13.63/1 (9/4 & 7/2 : Stan James)
Double Chocolate / The Geegeez Geegee @ 16.88/1 (9/4 & 9/2 : Bet365 & Betway)
Playing The Field / Verano @ 20.67/1 (4/1 & 10/3 : Bet365 & BetVictor)
Playing The Field / The Geegeez Geegee @ 26.50/1 (4/1 & 9/2 : Bet365 & BetVictor)
