The Shortlist 9th November 2013

shortlist

Midnight Belle won on Friday from the trio of  'also considered' horses, and we now look forward to a seriously soggy Saturday. I'm headed to Esher for a seriously soggy Saturday at Sandown, and will be exclusively favouring mudlarks.

Elsewhere, Jack Dexter looks like the bet of the day, dropped to Listed class on his favoured soft ground.

Today's racecards are here.

1.15 Don - Black Caesar - 5/1 bet365
1.50 Don - Lilac Lace e/w - 20/1 Betfred
2.25 Don - Jack Dexter - 7/2 BetVictor
3.15 Win - Wonderful Charm - 7/4 Hills

***

My 'also considered' list comprises:

12.45 San - Merehead e/w - 11/4 bet365
1.30 Win - Va Vite e/w - 25/1 bet365
2.15 Kel - Kruzhlinin - 4/1 bet365
3.05 San - Saphir du Rheu e/w - 5/1 BetVictor

The Shortlist is a simple concept: I go through the Race Analysis Reports each day to find horses which I consider to be of interest. I then publish that list of horses here. Some will win, many will lose. It is hoped that the winners will cover the losers and leave a bit of gravy on the punting platter. Now, before I go on, I need to make (labour!) a really important point. And it is this: the Race Analysis Reports are deliberately interpretive.

That is, different people will highlight different horses depending on whether they're using the win or place statistics, and which columns they sort on (based on which elements they consider most important in a given race). So, these will be the horses on MY shortlist. Feel free to do with them what you will. You may have a different shortlist, and you are most certainly encouraged to go and play with the numbers to find what works best for you.

As regular readers will know, it makes absolute sense to get the best price you can about any selection you're backing. Put another way, it makes no sense whatsoever to accept a shorter price than the best available unless you've got too much money and are keen to give some away! 😉

So, if you don't already have accounts with all the main bookmakers, you should get them. Seriously. Not only will they give you free bets when you start, but you'll also - more importantly - always get the best value on any bet you make by ensuring you take the top price. It's just daft not to.

Here at geegeez, we've got a special software tool which takes the hard (and dull) work of opening accounts, and makes it easy. You fill out a single form, and our software does the rest, opening up to twelve accounts for you with all the major bookmakers.

Just click here to put it to work for you.

I have been using the race card feature as well as my own system and where they both show the same horse that is the one I choose.

    My Selections for today are

    Doncaster 15:00 – Making Eyes – 12/1

well wiliam if i had a tenner on each horse i would be 100 pound up perhaps u should start your own site

    • Matt Bisogno says:

I presume you live on a different planet from me, David, because three winners nominated at 7/2, 7/4 and 5/1, from eight selections, equals a level stakes profit of 5.25 points.

So, erm, not that far off the mark. Seriously, I do get tired of this sort of crap sometimes.

      Matt

  3. Ron Combo says:

Winners are all very good Matt but your trouble is, you need to think outside the box more often.
I mean, these people are paying good money for the geegeez service 🙂

    • Matt Bisogno says:

Indeed, Ron. Couldn’t agree more. Must try less hard / charge more 😉

      Matt

  4. Stuart says:

Hang in there Matt – you know, I hope, that most of us love this place.

If you come up with a system that makes five points every day without fail for an entire month, I can promise you that someone will write in and moan on the 32nd day when you lose one point.

Perhaps if you nominate eight horses and “only” three of them win, you should expect more than one such mail? I mean, five points from eight horses, one of which was 33/1? Terrible! Surely we should all be up at least 50 points from that little lot?

Seriously, Matt, you’re doing a great job. Especially with Chris away and Junior becoming (I presume) both mobile AND curious around the house? As said, hang in there.

    • Matt Bisogno says:

Cheers Stuart. I get a lot worse than that from people, believe me. Usually water off a duck’s back but that one was particularly, erm, misguided. Especially as I had nominated Jack Dexter as my bet of the day!

And yes, Leon very mobile and into everything. Good lad!

      Matt
