Fanshawe Is On Fire At Present!

See which six trainers have made it into Andy Newton’s ‘Hot Trainers’ list this week…….

JAMES FANSHAWE (7 winners from their last 14 runners, 50% strike-rate): Not many yards are in better form than the Fanshawe team at present with 7 winners from their last 14 runners. This good run puts them on 30 winners for the season and now need just 5 more to beat last terms tally of 34. Their best ever was 58 in 2002, so they might get close with still 5 months of the season to go. They’ve had 1 juvenile winner from just 4 sent to post, but look for any 4+ year-olds as they are 13 from just 40 (32%) with that age bracket. You will find the bulk of their runners at Kempton and of the 4 AW tracks they also have the best strike-rate (25%) with their runners there as well as a +£85 level stakes profit.

KRISTIN STUBBS (3 winners from their last 7 winners, 43% strike-rate): Not a yard that many will know a lot about. Based in North Yorkshire this is their debut season and with 7 winners from 69 runners it’s not been a bad rookie campaign so far. Jockey Jacob Butterfield has ridden two of their last 3 winners, so they are cashing in on his handy 7lb claim. They’ve had one 2 year-old winner from 10 sent to post, but 4 of their 7 have been with their 3 year-olds. So far they’ve had the most runners at Wolverhampton, but surprisingly they are still looking for their first winner at that venue – look for any Beverly runners as they are 2 from 6 there.

DEAN IVORY (3 winners from his last 7 runners, 43% strike-rate): Going very well at the moment with 30 runners from 155 runners this season and, therefore, need just 4 more to make this their best ever campaign in terms of winners. They’ve also banked a decent £242k in total prize money, again, their best yet and are showing a +£69 level stakes profit from their runners in 2013. They have the bulk of their runners on the AW at Kempton and Lingfield, but with a 29% strike-rate do note any York entries.

LUCA CUMANI (8 winners from their last 24 runners, 33% strike-rate): 46 winners from 216 in 2013 means they are operating at a 21% strike-rate at present, and look on target to make this another decent year for their horses. 109 winners in 1990 was their best yet, but they’ve been nowhere near that since. A massive 63% of their runners have finished in the top 4, so punters more often than not get a run for their money with their horses. Just the one juvenile winner so far in 2013, with 28 of their winners coming with their 3 year-olds. In terms of jockeys Kirsty Milczarek and Andrea Atzeni are the ones they use the most – between them they’ve been on all bar two of their recent 8 winners. They do well at a lot of tracks, but in particular Bath, Redcar, Thirsk, Leicester and Brighton.

IAN WILLIAMS (4 winners from his last 14 runners, 29% strike-rate): Have sent out 28 winners so far, but with 57 last season and 41 the year before then you can expect plenty more in the coming months. More importantly they’ve banked £262k in total prize money and need just £18k to make this their best-ever season in terms of money won. No 2 year-old runners so far this season, but they’ve only had 1 juvenile winner in the last 5 seasons anyway! This term 25 of their 28 winners have been with their 4+year-olds. Look for runners at places like Catterick, Carlisle, Lingfield (AW), Redcar, Yarmouth and Southwell (AW) – all tracks they’ve had very good records at in the past.

RALPH BECKETT (4 winners from his last 15 runners, 27% strike-rate): Ticking along nicely with 55 winners for the season and need just 10 more to better last season’s tally and 15 more to make this their best ever campaign. Obviously their Epsom Oaks win earlier in the season was a highlight and that’s helped them bank £780k in total prize money, while they are currently showing a +£49.99 level stakes profit with their 2013 runners. The bulk of their winners have been with their 3 year-olds, but with a 31% strike-rate it’s with their 4+year-old they are doing best with. Their main jockey Jim Crowley has been on their last three winners, and looking at their track stats keep an eye on runners at Chepstow, Pontefract, Ffos Las, Ayr and Leicester – all courses they do well at.
