Frankie Dettori aboard Campanologist has claimed success in Germany by taking the first Group 1 victory of his career on Saturday when winning the former Deutschland Preis, the Grosser Preis von Lotto at Hamburg racecourse.
The Godolphin Royal Ascot winner two seasons previous, triumphed by three-quarters of a length to outperform last year's Deutsches Derby victor Wiener Walzer to win the E155,000 race.
Favourite Wiener Walzer was taken straight to the front by Adrie de Vries, as he tried to make all, increasing the pace and ensuring a trial of endurance in the back straight, a act that straight away put Jukebox Jury, trained by Mark Johnston, under the pump.
Campanologist, appeared to be moving nicely with Frankie Dettori aboard, before taking command after the home turn and then maintaining a strong gallop for a conclusive win.
Wiener Walzer kept battling tenaciously to hold second place in a group finish from the veteran Quijano, with Jukebox Jury and Allied Powers making up the next two placings.
