Weekly Stat Pack

Weekly Stat Pack: 25th June to 1st July

25th June to 1st July

25th June to 1st July

Don’t forget to check the daily stat pack from Wednesday onwards when updated statistics from the previous day will be available.

It is refreshing (to a fashion) to find out that the weather this ‘summer’ is no different to conditions we were experiencing twelve months ago.

Two meetings were lost via water-logging (Leicester and Newcastle) in the corresponding week, whilst changing ground conditions (presumably) brought about  toteplacepot dividends of £2,190.00 at Newbury on Tuesday, £3,313.40 at Warwick on Thursday and £3,356.20 on the corresponding fixture for Newmarket on Friday.  All this on top of the £6,240.50 dividend at Windsor (yesterday) in 2012.

Roll on winter, at least you know where you stand, providing meetings receive the green light to race!

Be lucky……

6.20: Eight of the last twelve horses to secure toteplacepot positions carried weights of 9-2 or more, statistics which include the three relevant winners at odds of 9/2-4/1-7/2.  All eight winners to date were sent off at 10/1 or less, whilst four-year-olds have won three of the seven contests. Four of the eight favourites have secured toteplacepot positions to date (two winners--two silver medallists).

7.55: Leading trainers saddle the winner of this race, pure and simple.  Unfortunately, at least ten represented handlers could lay claim to being a top trainer this time around whereby the (jigsaw) puzzle has few (if any) edges to help us on our way.  Upwards and onwards however by revealing that three top class fillies have won this race during the same period, namely Just The Judge last year, subsequent dual Group 1 winner Questing in 2011 and eventual Group 2 gold medallist Cape Dollar the previous year.

8.00: Eleven of the last twelve winners have carried 8-11 or more, whilst seven of the last ten gold medallists have carried a minimum weight of 9-2.  Just three of the last sixteen favourites have obliged, whilst seven market leaders secured toteplacepot positions during the study period.

9.05: Fifteen of the twenty one horses to claim toteplacepot positions thus far have carried weights of 9-3 or more, statistics which include three winenrs. Four-year-olds have won four of the seven events thus far, with vintage representatives coming to the gig on a hat trick.  Two of the seven market leaders have secured toteplacepot positions to date (no winners).

Kempton:

It will be an interesting fact finding mission to determine how Saeed Bin Suroor’s runners perform in July which is when his stable generally starts to hit top form.  Taking over the ‘other’ Newmarket stable might make a difference I guess but whatever early signs develop next week, you should take the hint, whichever side of the pendulum the arrow points to.

Saeed’s record here at Kempton during the last five years shows a 34% strike rate via sixty eight winners, amassing a level stake profit of thirty eight points along the way.  Anglophile is Saeed’s only runner on Wednesday’s card though the late (May 7) foal might do well to give experience away on this occasion.

Either way, the Dubawi colt will be worth watching to try and detect if Saeed’s excellent July record can be maintained next week.

Ffos Las:

Flat racing is being staged at long last this year at the Welsh Venue!  Last year’s opening meetings produced ten successful favourites via twenty eight races (first four fixtures).  27/29 winners were returned at odds of 9/1 or less, statistics which include one dead heat.  Seventeen of the winners emerged via just seven trainers, the details of which are as follows:

4--David Evans (9/2-5/4*-10/3-9/2)

3--Rod Millman (4/1-11/4*-7/1)

Two each for Bernard Llewellyn (3/1 & 7/1), Ron Harris (11/4 & 5/2), Andrew Balding (3/1 & Evs*), Daniel Mark Loughnane (6/4* & 7/1) and Mick Channon (2/1* & 7/2)

Wolverhampton:

Saeed Bin Suroor saddled another winner at Wolverhampton on Monday and his runners at Dunstall Park are certainly worth watching (33% strike rate in the last five years).  With the trainer about to enter his best phase in terms of juveniles (20/47--42.5%) during the month of July (countrywide) during the last four years, Saeed’s two-year-olds should be kept on the right side.  Saeed’s strike rate in the juvenile sector at Wolverhampton in the last five years stands at 39% (18/46).
