2026 Cotswold Chase Trends

Run at Cheltenham racecourse – normally in the third week of January at their Trials Meeting – the Cotswold Chase is run over a trip of 3m 1 ½ furlongs. The race is deemed as another Cheltenham Gold Cup trial, but maybe only in name as the last horse to land both races in the same season was Looks Like Trouble in 2000, while Master Oats also landed both races back in 1995.

In 2023 we saw the Lucinda Russell-trained Ahoy Senor win the race and in 2024 Willie Mullins won the race for the first time - when his Capodanno landed the prize.

While last year in 2025, the popular L'Homme Presse landed the spoils for trainer Venetia Williams.

We take a look back at past winners of the Cotswold Chase and give you all the stats that mater ahead of the 2026 renewal – this year run on Saturday 24th January.

Saturday TV Trends: 24th Jan 2026

Another massive day of horse racing this Saturday with ‘Trials Day’ at Cheltenham – their last meeting before the Festival in March. Therefore, plenty more clues to be had, including top races like the Cleeve Hurdle and Cotswold Chase – a race only three favourites in the last 22 runnings have won.

The ITV cameras are also heading to Doncaster to take in the best of their action, including the ultra-competitive Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase and the River Don Novices' Hurdle.

As always, here at GeeGeez, we've got it all covered with all the key trends – use these stats to help find the best past winning profiles to help whittle down the runners and hopefully pin-point a few winners.
