Saturday TV Trends: 27th Jan 2024

Another massive day of horse racing this Saturday with ‘Trials Day’ at Cheltenham – their last meeting before the Festival in March. Therefore, plenty more clues to be had, including top races like the Cleeve Hurdle and Cotswold Chase – plus last week’s cancelled Ascot Clarence House Chase has also been slotted into the bumper 8-race card.

The ITV cameras are also heading to Doncaster to take in the best of their action, including the ultra-competitive Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase – a race the Alan King yard have won in two of the last 8 seasons.

As always, here at GeeGeez, we've got it all covered with all the key trends – use these stats to help find the best past winning profiles to help whittle down the runners and hopefully pin-point a few winners.

2024 Clarence House Betting Trends

Staged at Ascot racecourse the Clarence House Chase is a Grade One contest run over a distance of 2m1f.

**The 2024 Clarence House Chase was cancelled (20th Jan), but will now be staged on Saturday 27th Jan at Cheltenham**

The Clarence House Chase was first run back in 1989 when the popular Desert Orchid won the prize as a 10 year-old. The race is also a good guide to that season’s Queen Mother Champion Chase with Sprinter Sacre landing both races in 2013, Sire de Grugy in 2014, while Dodging Bullets did the same double in 2015, plus most recently Altior in 2019.

The Willie Mullins-trained Un De Sceaux also made the race his own by landing three of the last 8 renewals.

The 2023 running was won by Editeur Du Gite and the Gary Moore yard - their second win in the contest since 2014 and was also staged at Cheltenham.

Trainers Nicky Henderson (6) and Paul Nicholls (5) has also won the race 11 times between them and– as mentioned – the Willie Mullins camp have taken three of the last 8 runnings.

Here at GeeGeez, we are on hand with all the key stats ahead of the 2024 renewal – this year due to be run on Saturday 27th January at Cheltenham (rescheduled)

Clarence House Chase Trends

Staged at Ascot racecourse the Clarence House Chase is a Grade One contest run over a distance of 2m1f.

The Clarence House Chase was first run back in 1989 when the popular Desert Orchid won the prize as a 10 year-old. The race is also a good guide to that season’s Queen Mother Champion Chase with Sprinter Sacre landing both races in 2013, Sire de Grugy in 2014, while Dodging Bullets did the same double in 2015. In more recent years, the Willie Mullins-trained Un De Sceaux has made the race his own by landing three of the last five renewals, while Altior landed the 2019 renewal.

The 2020 running though was won by the Philip Hobbs-trained Defi Du Seuil.

Trainers Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls has also won the race five times each and– as mentioned – the Willie Mullins camp have taken three of the last five runnings.

Here at GEEGEEZ we are on hand with all the key stats ahead of the 2021 renewal – this year run on Saturday 23rd January.
