Saturday TV Trends Sat TV Trends: 13th Jan 2024

Some nice jumping cards to look forward to this Saturday from Wetherby, Warwick and Kempton, with eight races being shown LIVE on ITV4 across the three tracks.

The clear highlights on the day are the Grade 3 Wigley Group Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick– a race trainer Paul Nicholls has won three times since 2006, and at Kempton the Coral Lanzarote Hurdle - a prize that the Nicky Henderson yard have landed three times since 2013 - is their showcase event.

2025 Classic Chase Trends

The Classic Chase is a 3m5f gruelling Grade 3 handicap that is run at Warwick racecourse every season in January and provides punters with another chance to see some potential Aintree Grand National hopefuls on show – in 2017 the Lucinda Russell-trained One For Arthur won the Classic Chase before going onto land the Grand National at Aintree in April.

The former Welsh Grand National winner Iwilldoit won the race for trainer Sam Thomas in 2023, while in 2024 the Emma Lavelle camp fired in their third in the race with the good-looking grey mare My Silver Lining.

Classic Chase Trends

The Mccoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Chase is a 3m5f gruelling Grade 3 handicap that is run at Warwick racecourse every season in January and provides punters with another chance to see some potential Aintree Grand National hopefuls on show.

In 2017 the Lucinda Russell-trained One For Arthur won the Classic Chase before going onto land the Grand National at Aintree in April. 12 months ago in 2020 the JP McManus-owned Kimberlite Candy won the race at odds of 9/2.
