Well done Harry. What was your total stake across all tickets? That’s a nice return and a great start!

About £20 all told Matt – I see this on the Racing Post:

    Dividends and spread make-ups
    Jackpot £6,090.90 to a £1 stake. Pool: £14,084.51 – 1.65 winning units

Does that mean mine were the only winning tickets? Why does it say 1.65 and not 2? – Cheers!

A winning ticket is £1’s worth, Harry. You had, I think, 2 x £0.01, so there were other tickets totalling £1.48 out there.

Hi Matt, a very useful video and hopefully you can answer a couple of questions I have? Never truly got into jackpots/placepots apart from the odd Cheltenham/Royal Ascot attempts, but your video has tempted me. Tried my first one on Saturday and learned not to ignore odds on shots as missed the first leg winner, but got all the rest. Today I ran out of time at Fontwell and sadly I would still be running and my questions are 1) Is there a “keep betslip” option on Tote as I find it’s taking me up to an hour to compile 25/26 betting slips? Secondly if the pool is a guaranteed £10,000 and you play with 1p stakes then even if you are still in the pool with your 1p tickets am I right in thinking that the maximum you can generate for your 1p tickets is £100 per 1p even if like today you could be the only tickets still running? Many thanks

      Hi maverick,

Yes, 1p = 1% of the winning dividend. Of course, if you have an unnamed favourite as well as the racecard number, you can double that – and if two favourites win, you could double again, and so on. I’m almost never trying to win the lot; rather I’m playing smallish stakes to get, say, an 8/1 winner with a lot of coverage. That’s a sustainable – and fun – model!

Regarding the tote interface, it’s not ideal in one way – keep bet would be easier to edit, perhaps – but using the ‘quick pick’ option I find I can put 20 tickets on in 8-10 minutes. I’ve probably had a bit more practice than you, mind!

      Matt

Thanks Matt. I’ll try the quick pick to see if that helps. As it happens my printed out ticket builder at Fontwell yesterday would have given me a ticket with a x3 (3p) winning jackpot pay out. With less than 30 mins to place the tickets I felt this was unlikely and the rest is history. Am I right in thinking that a £10,000 guaranteed jackpot excludes the deductions?

        • Matt Bisogno
          Matt Bisogno says:

No, the £10k is net and, if you bet through tote.co.uk directly, they add 10%, so it’s actually an £11k net pool

I should have clarified a 1p ticket stake and not perhaps 2p, 3p or 4p depending on what x2, x3 or x4 option you have chosen in the bet builder. So each 1p stake can only generate £100 as a maximum if there is a guaranteed £10,000 pool or does the reductions reduce this further?

Hi Matt, Quick Pick a massive improvement! 25 tickets placed in under 20 mins – if only I realised this yesterday. Many thanks.
